Learning about measurement

We talked about different ways of measuring things. Once upon a time people used their hands and feet to measure length. This would have been tricky - surely everyone had differently sized hands and feet!
We decided to measure our hands and feet. It was fun to see who had the largest and smallest hands and feet.

 We carefully traced around Humairah...

...and now here she is on the wall! She's even wearing her perfect Chaucer School uniform. She looks pretty happy to be here!
We can measure Humairah's arms, legs and height using the big metre ruler.

Dancing with Shane

We love Wednesdays because we have dancing lessons! Check out our moves - cha cha cha!

Reciprocal Reading

We love Reciprocal Reading!
We have learnt to make predictions, ask good questions, clarify things we're not sure of, and summarise the stories we read. We all help each other with our reading.

Two-week Goals

How is your new learning goal going? Remember, you have two weeks to achieve your goal - work hard!
Here is Jahna explaining her goal. She started working on this one as soon as she got it on Monday afternoon! He whetu koe, Jahna!

Our neighbours in Room 16

We often work together with the children and teachers in Room 16. You may find pictures of your child's learning on the Room 16 Blog as well. Here's a link:

Check out our wonderful publishing!

We wrote about our favourite kinds of learning and the things we love about our class. We have been learning to write our opinions and justify them. We are getting really good at using 'because' in our sentences!

Buddy Time

We have Buddy Time every day after lunch.
We work on our Maths knowledge and we read together.

This is why it's so important to bring our Maths Cards to school every single day in our book bags!
Good buddies help each other to learn!

Term 2 Topic

This term we are learning about heroes. Can you name any real-life heroes? What makes them heroic?

How is your Maths knowledge going?

Mrs. Chandler says we need to know all this Maths!

Look at our ThinkLink!

We read the big book 'Keep Trying'. We talked about times when things were tricky and we had to keep trying. Another word for this is 'persevere'.
Click on the red and white arrows to see what each person had to say.

Keep Trying!

Meet Room 15!

We are a class of respectful, responsible, safe learners who put 100% effort into the things we do.

Our teachers are Mrs. Chandler, Miss Thompson and Miss Molloy.

What are your child's writing goals?

Pop into the classroom and ask your child to tell you about this display.

What are your child's next learning steps in Maths?

Displayed in our classroom windows you'll find sheets like the one below.

Ask your child to show you their sheet and tell you about the learning they've already achieved as well as the next steps they're still working on!
